Sweet Potato Pancakes Obtained

Image
This morning D and I headed back to RuthAnne's for some breakfast. He has ten days off so we decided to kick it off with a fun breakfast. This meant that I got to try the sweat potato pancakes that I have had my eye on and they were......just okay. I was actually a little bummed about them. I expected pure awesomeness so back to the veggie omelet for me next time. Let's review training from this week and the many miles to come this weekend: Monday: Biked 40 minutes/ lifted weights for 45 minutes Tuesday: Ran 4 miles by myself and then 2.5 with my run group Wednesday: Rest day Thursday: 4 miles at a quicker than normal pace (even got into the eights I don't know what was happening) and then 3 miles with my run group Friday: 2 mile walk, weights for 45 minutes, yoga 20 minutes Saturday: 10 miles planned hopefully some with run group Sunday: 16 miles planned Since I am still coming back from my injury- read I am scared I will hurt myself again, I am being super...

Commitment Issues and Rest

Image
Well this happened this evening. Fingers crossed that the end of March is not as brutally cold as last Saturday was. Either way the medal for this race looks amazing and there is an Easter Egg hunt involved. Pretty much had to register. Half #26 looks like a lot of fun. What is weird is that I for some reason can't seem to pull the trigger on the marathon registration. I have a training plan. I have placed training plan on the calender so I know when training commences. There it is- the date of the Illinois marathon in pen so pretty committed.  I have pretty much begged Yo Momma to be there. Just do it already. But you know when you register all of the sudden it becomes real. The twenty mile long runs, yep they have to happen. The injury fears after so many miles of work become a weird type of paranoia where every twinge is a shattered bone. The self doubt about staying upright and moving forward for 26.2 miles becomes loud when your finger hesitates over the enter ...

Plan for the Week & Reflection

This week I vow to buy a group fitness pass and get my butt moving in different ways. Monday: AM: 4 mile run, hip exercises, stretching PM: zumba (my friend is teaching this so it will be twice as fun) Tuesday: AM: biking/ yoga/ Jillian Michael's cardio hell or nothing PM: Muscle Pump class (lifting weights to music is basically the class description) Wednesday: AM: 6 mile run, hip exercises, stretching PM: zumba again Thursday: AM: biking/yoga/Jillian Michael's cardio hell or nothing PM: muscle pump again Friday: AM: 6 mile run PM: nothing- drink beer Saturday:  there is a zumba class at noon I may go to or I may nap, tricky Sunday: AM: 8 mile run PM: power yoga This all seems fairly ambitious and I am sure by Wednesday morning my body will be difficult to get out of bed with the new classes I will be taking. Today I went for a six mile run and my hip felt better. I ran it slower than normal and even turned my Garmin so I couldn't see the speed I w...

Marathon Madness

Image
One of my favorite ways to waste  pass the time is to read other runner's blogs. Some of the blogs I read....they are just amazing. Million mile training weeks, marathons every other day, and in no way am I exaggerating. Okay so marathons every other weekend but still there are some pretty amazing runners out there. All of this reading about others training and running marathons has made me lose my mind  more motivated and now I want to run a marathon. I almost signed up for the Marine Corp Marathon on a whim. I have visited the Richmond Marathon website 3 times in the last two days. I viewed the course video of the San Fran. marathon. And I want to do them all. So why have I not signed up......cause I am afraid. The last time I was training for a marathon I broke myself. And it is just so far and so much running. Plus I gotta finish 30 before turning 30. If I end up broken again that could severely hamper my half marathon goals. But even knowing that I st...

Lesson Learned

DO NOT DO squats lunges or  The day before running unless you are a fan of shuffling with a pained/constipated look on your face. Duly noted. (and yes you are welcome for the bare chestedness if that is your style, otherwise I apologize.)

Breaking News....

Nine pounds away from glitter shoes ......you will be mine (whaaahaaaa evil laughter). In other news  Just a Colorado Gal  is having her first giveaway so check it out! I know I like free stuff and giveaways so betting everyone else does too. This morning I ran 8 miles. I decided to try out my new running shorts because I am slow and thought wearing shorts when it is 35 degrees out would be fine. On the plus side I did look fairly decent and less homeless for once. I work a long sleeve pink tech shirt that matched my new running shoes and black shorts. Pretty coordinated for me. But my legs were numb for the first four miles. This did result in the first mile being under 10 minutes. I had to recover from a mini-heart attack after about a mile at a stop light. That is when I realized things were getting out of hand. Unfortunately when I started to feel my legs they said NO. The first four numb miles were fine and the last four miles were slow tort...

Monday Musings

Image
I took a break this weekend from my usual long run after my shins started to ache. I realized I am really scared of hurting myself again. I get kind of anal about getting my weekly runs in...must follow schedule. But I think I need to relax. Better to skip a few and be able to run, than broken, in a cast, hanging with my friends Ben & Jerry. Plus I shelled out some mighty fine cash for the 1/2's I registered for so I would like to run them. Because running is fun.....OKAY I like medals (exactly how much I like them see below). So missing a run is okay. Rest is good (repeat mantra). The good thing that came out of resting was that I ran a good pace on my three mile run this morning. Whooohooo. And I wore my running skirt, which now fits (actually a little saggy in the beginning until I started to sweat, what too much detail?), and looks pretty cute. And....................there was minimal chaffing. (Sooo much detail). This weekend I also got around to hanging my awesome ...
