Fun in London

Image
no not the real London. The little fake London Lake Havasu City has near the London Bridge. After recovering from our runs, D and I headed out to explore the London Bridge at a slower pace. D challenged me to think of a song with the word London in it. I came up with children's London Bridge falling down song, he came up with Fergie's London Bridge. Hilarious. London Bridge Visitor Center There wasn't much going on since it is the off season at the lake and the weather was cool, windy and a little rainy still.  Me in a phone booth. Ummm no reason London Bridge After thinking about how ridiculous and smart it was on the part of the people of London to sell an old bridge to a gullible (or history lover depending on your view) American who then took it apart piece by piece (labeling all the pieces of course) and then rebuilt it in AZ we decide it was time to eat again. Plus I was getting cranky hungry so D agreed to tame the beast and we he...

Havasu Half Race Review

D & I got up around 5:30 for the Havasu Half . Not so much from the alarm going off but more from the fact that we fell asleep around 8p.m. watching HGTV. We get pretty wild when we go out of town. Watch out. When we woke up the weather was cloudy and cool and looked like it could rain. Thankfully there were just a few sprinkles but the wind was pretty strong. Of course this is the one time I only brought one running outfit. But actually it worked out because once I started running I was plenty warm. Two thumbs up for half number 13 Our hotel was only a mile away so with a short drive across the London Bridge we arrived in the parking lot.   We waited in the car for awhile and then headed to the start. There were plenty of porto potties and a bag check if needed. Since the race started near a park there looked like there might have also been real restrooms to use. These signs were hung all over town welcoming runners. Starting Line  After the nat...

Havasu Half Eve

Last night we had some friends over and I made these bad boys. Delicious. Fruit always tastes better when it is drenched in chocolate. I also decided that I needed to impress them with my extensive collection of salad dressing. That's right look at them all. I am pretty sure we all used the same kind.  Today we left Tucson to drive to Lake Havasu City for the Havasu Half . After 5 hours of driving through the desert we arrived at Quality Inn & Suites ($64 a night). They had a deal going for the half marathoners.   After checking in we headed to the Hampton Inn two miles away for packet pick-up. Like their other events it was small with not a lot going on. There was also a bass fishing competition check-in there. We stood in that line for a minute before looking around and realizing that something was off. After walking down the hall and out a door we found the race packet area. Walked in and got a gear bag, number and t-shirt. They also had some gear fo...
