Movies: Let's Review

Image
Looking for something to do this weekend? Had a long run and now can't get off the couch? Maybe these will keep you entertained.   The Avengers: I loved this movie which I did not expect. Sometimes with action films I can take it or leave it. This one got better as it went. This movie had the best portrayal of the Hulk I have ever seen. Mark Ruffalo you rocked it. There is a scene with the hulk that had me cracking up and rewinding at least four times to re-watch and bust up. I give this movie a thumbs up for catching non-comic readers up on story lines and making it easy for non-marvel worshipers to follow along. Rent it, watch it, love it. Sometimes I love Katherine and sometimes she annoys the heck out of me. She was okay in this. The movie was quick and entertaining though I found her hard to believe as a bounty hunter. I wouldn't cry a river if you miss it.  This movie went from suspenseful to completely terrifying ...

Push Play: Round III

Don't know what do do with the rest of your weekend? More movie wisdom from someone who knows absolutely nothing about cinema. Thank you internet for making us all experts on everything. A few nights ago I actually ventured into a movie theater to see a movie. This rarely happens as all the people that text and chat during movies make me want to strangle them considering I just gave my left kidney to be able to purchase a movie ticket. But some friends wanted to see Brave and I couldn't resist. Plus it is good for me to not always  be a fuddy duddy. I did make them go to the 8pm showing instead of the 10pm showing because there as no way I would be awake at 10pm (see above fuddy duddy reference). This movie was cute. The best part was probably the main character's hair. As seen above it is similar to what mine looks like in high humidity as far as texture. On screen the detail was amazing. The story line was focused on the mother daughter relationship which was a nic...

Push Play Round II

Once again this weekend I spent a significant amount of time sitting on the couch watching movies and thought I would review them for those of you interested in my magical take on cinema (please see disclaimer from this post. ) After all how will you know what to pick up at Red Box if I haven't told you? First off let me just say I am not a huge Seth Rogen fan. I know, I know. Blasphemy. I tend to feel that he plays the same person in every movie and that person annoys the crap out of me. That being said he did it again in this movie but it worked. As the best friend who is figuring out how to deal with the fact that his best friend has cancer he is perfect. Joseph Gordan-Levitt plays his role perfectly as a type A having to deal with the unexpected. This movie was touching and I would recommend it for those interested in a deeper, emotional story. Not a lot of fluff here, though there are some laugh out loud moments. It is especially touching since the main character is abo...

This weekend is the last weekend before heading back to school. To send Spring Break out with a bang I decided to reside on my couch and catch up on some movies I have been wanting to watch. Plus it was raining so I couldn't possibly do my long run today. I might melt or worse get wet and chafe. Pajama pants and multiple movie viewings was the name of the game. (I briefly considered the dreadmill, long enough to cringe, roll my eyes and snuggle further into the couch. No way ten miles is happening on that torture machine.) I have decided since I am an expert on cinema and that a review by someone with such fine tastes may assist you in your next rental decision. (Disclaimer: I am not an expert. I have watched Bridget Jones Diary and the Devil Wears Prada both at least 20 times. The only foreign language film I enjoy is Amelie because it mentions creme brulee and I thought the movie Burlesque was a shoe in for best picture (Cher you are an unappreciated gem). So you h...
