I was called out

Don't you just hate it when you have a big mouth and instead of sitting around eating leftovers all day you have to get off your butt and run an....entire.....mile. Ugh. Day 2 of streak complete- slow start, less slow finish. Thanks Jac for keeping me on track. You rock! I am glad you accepted the challenge because apparently I can not do it without you! I totally killed Black Friday shopping. Out the door by 8:30 a.m. Got a sweet xmas tree on sale, a guest bed and mattress on sale for future visitors and Christmas gifts for the family and didn't threaten to kill anyone verbally or even have the thought cross my mind. Which is weird because usually my normal trip to the grocery store ticks me off in some way. Apparently I have shopper rage instead of road rage. But even the massive line at a department store didn't kill my holiday buzz. Christmas has arrived! Tomorrow is the Shaumburg Half and I am super not excited about it. Mostly because it is supposed t...

Streaking

Runner's World once again has the streak going on. Run a mile everyday between Thanksgiving and Christmas to combat the bulge and the tendency to get lazy as it gets colder and darker out. Last year Jac totally killed their Memorial Day to Fourth of July streak and I egged her on and I jumped in to extend the streak until I hurt myself......where am I going with this..... Okay, to streak or not to streak. I kind of want to streak. First, I have a treadmill. If I can't get a mile a day in, no one can. Second, last time I went streaking I got all crazy about it and saw the mile run a day as a chance to throw down a fast mile instead of a just take it easy recovery run between my normal runs. I shall be smarter this time. Third, we are not traveling at all this holiday season. Therefore it should be extremely easy to get'er done. Finally, I love to eat. All things delicious. I see Thanksgiving as the kickoff of a month and a half of face stuffing, therefore this strea...

Confusion and Calories: I has them

Image
First just to clear up any confusion for those tracking the #RWStreakExtreme, Jac  is the awesome one not me. She is the one who has been streaking since Memorial Day. I am just the person who egged her on to keep going and do a July 4th to Labor Day streak with me which started yesterday.  So just so we are straight, Jac = hardcore run streaker, Bean = person with a big mouth who committed to running everyday for 60 days when I normally have two days a week of doing a whole lot of nothing. (and then Jac threw out the idea of streaking for a year, and I was like I will think about it while I shook my head and mouthed no freakin (or some version of this word) way, but now I am intrigued. Could I run everyday for a year...... interesting thought. That being said day 2 of #RWStreakExtreme was 1 mile in 9:36. Going strong, oh yeah. Up next calories: If you live in Tucson go to the Pasco Kitchen happy hour. Just do it $5 entrees that are deli...

This Streak is on like Donkey Kong

So I may have opened my big fat mouth and gotten myself in trouble today. As you may remember I caught up with the rest of the world a few days ago and joined Twitter. Since then it has opened up a whole new world of people for me to harass  share my wisdom with (oh side note I shared a tweet/ had a twitter conversation- I have no idea what the terminology is but there was an exchange between me and Bart Yasso and I was pretty freakin excited about it because he is one of my running heroes). So today I was twitter stalking as usual when a tweet popped up from the lovely blogger Jac  about how she was almost done doing the Runners World streak of a mile a day between Memorial Day and the 4th of July and how she wished it wasn't over because she had really upped her mileage and dropped her time (by like an amazing amount I might add). So then my stupid brain was like hey I should tweet back and be like 'lets do our own streak cause we are bad a**'s and we can go from the 4t...

Cookies & Wine- Yes Please

Image
So last night I got to go with my friend A to an adult function. Which meant putting on adult clothes. Tada (and by the way my dress pants are too big- which is kind of exciting because = skinnier but also annoying because= shopping for new pants which is only fun under certain circumstances like at the outlet mall with your mom & sister whom you can torture with your amazing modeling skills and artful poses.  We got dressed up to head to the Cookies and Cabernet function put on by the girl scouts. Basically it consisted of walking around looking at art while stuffing your face with desserts made from girl scout cookies and drinking wine (pants may not be too loose for long :)).  Ummm yes please. It was a lot of fun and for a good cause. So win. Unfortunately since I did not have an extra $5000 laying around no art was purchased but it was fun to look at. Streak Update- Day 3

Image
Have now worked out three days in a row. Am fitness guru and 25 lbs lighter.  Just kidding. I haven't lost any weight and I know nothing and my body hurts so bad I am having a hard time standing and sitting, just moving in general. Working out sucks the big one is super fun. Who knew a little weight lifting would bring the pain like no other.  The workouts that have me living in a world of pain: Monday: plyo jump squats- 8 sets of 15 lunges- 6 sets of 8 one leg squat- 4 sets of 15 dead lifts 3 sets of 6 with 45lbs calf raises 3 sets of 15 Spinning: 30 min 40 min walk with Max the wonder dog (later that evening start crying) Tuesday: 3 mile run in 30:17 with negative splits starting at 10:30 and ending at 9:35 min. mile sit-ups  4 sets of 15 push-ups 4 sets of 15 (lets be real- they were on my knees) leg raises- 4 sets of 15 mountain climbers- 5 sets of 15 40 minute walk with Max the wonder dog (start to avo...

Streaking in the New Year

Image
We're going streaking...no not that kind of streaking, explanation below Workout: 10ish miles in 1:45 ish (I forgot to restart the garmin after stopping at a light and then ran a long ways hence the ish) My long run today was pretty awesome. A new year's miracle. I didn't take one walk break. I didn't even have to refuel at all, or stop to pee, or fall off the sidewalk. Most miles were between a 10:15 and 10:30 pace. And I am not even that sore which is weird cause after three weeks of kinda of running sometimes and no longer than six miles you think that ten would kick me in the butt and require a day of couch laying but no. But I did ice my knees and feet when I got back so maybe that is why I feel fine Just a word of advice: beans, peas and corn work great, broccoli & spinach too lumpy for icing Ta da the more you know Perhaps it was the champagne carbo loading the night before (practicing for Temecula ). Or maybe the sweet new running outfit I wor...
