Long Runs Rock!

Image
So I got over myself and went for a 16 mile run which I totally killed. I ran it faster than I thought I would and felt pretty good until the last two miles. I realized as I get tired I start to curl up in a little ball of pain and probably look a cross between Quasimodo and an injured water buffalo that is dressed in compression gear and wearing a sweat encrusted visor. ProCompression and Aspaeris shorts, what would I do without you?  So really what I am saying is as the run goes on I only get prettier. I had to keep reminding myself to straighten up. Apparently I need to do some core work and upper body strength training so I can keep myself upright as I get more and more tired. I can only imagine what happens at mile 18. Do I hit the ground and start crawling??? Regardless of the water buffalo situation I ran 16 miles which is a freakin long way for me and did not die. So that is awesome. I have a love/hate relationship with long runs.  I love them wh...

Gear Up

Image
First things first: The Treadmill Review Guru  named me a Get Up and Move blogger. Check out his list of other awesome bloggers at  http://www.treadmillreviewguru.com/articles/the-get-up-move-blogger-award/ . Thanks Treadmill Guru! Next lets talk about gear. As you may have noticed I have been acquiring a lot running gear. Which resulted in D asking why exactly I needed so many pairs of running shorts when I can only wear one pair at a time. Yes this question seems ridiculous to me too. But it did get me thinking how much of this running gear do I actually need. This question was came up again with the arrival of these Pro Compression socks in Neon yellow. Whoop  and a trip to target that resulted in this little number for around $10 D asked if I was gonna put my hair in a side pony tail since it reminded him of the 80s. And the answer is Yes, always yes on the side ponytail.  Obviously I have a obsession with running gear and can never have enough....

So Sweaty and Foot Rubz

Image
Before I regale you with the tale of how I had the worst long run in the history of running on Saturday lets review the fun things in life.  First I won a Foot Rubz from Lisa over at  Yo Momma Runs . She is one of my favorite bloggers so winning something from her was pretty dang exciting. And then she was all cute and put a note in with the Foot Rubz and I was like 'see I knew we are BFFs for life'. Totally made my day to get a fun package in the mail and Foot Rubz = amazing. Love it. Thank you Lisa for having the awesome giveaway and thank you random number generator for picking me.   Second of all got a fun card in the mail from the family congratulating me on new job, moving, etc.with a quote on the front I love so thought would share. I gotta admit I am a little nervous about packing up all our stuff, moving cross country and landing in a new place and starting a new job. But when I think about it as an adventure I get more excited and less nerv...

Back to Running & Stuff

Image
First off. I won some free stuff from Chocolate Milk. While I had my fingers crossed for a lifetime supply of the stuff, I ended up with a gift card to use at their online store. Yay for sweepstakes and yay for winning! Tote bag Sweatshirt jacket  Thanks to Chocolate Milk and the nice lady who deals with special people such as myself when they realize a month after they got a notification email that they had won that their code had not come via email. When in fact it had but had been eaten by the my spam folder so she had to go through hoops to resend me the code. Other stuff that came in the mail. These little pretty's. And by little I mean they come out of the bag barbie size but due to the high concentration of unicorn hair involved in the making they fit every time.  #Magicpants Due to the sweet coupon code I came upon I got two pairs for the price of one and free shipping. For those of you who may not know Aspaeris Pivot Shorts help you keep muscle...

Arizona Half Marathon Race Review

Image
This morning I woke up at 5:45 to drive over to Goodyear for the inaugural  Arizona Half Marathon . Some friends of mine that live in Tempe let me crash in their guestroom. It was fun to be able to hang out with them. The race was located in Estrella . I woke up with a bad attitude and did not want to go run. I briefly thought about just staying in bed, making breakfast for my friends and driving home but I managed to get myself out the door. On the way I dropped by Circle K to get some beverage. I love gas station coffee. So many choices, tons of creamer all for around $1. Can't go wrong. Since the race was kind of in the middle of nowhere I just picked up my number this morning at the Starpointe Residents Club. The club area was located across the street from a Safeway so there was plenty of parking for everyone. This was also the start and finish area.  Because I had registered way back in October I also got a bag and a hat along with the race t-shirt....

The Lost Dutchman Half Race Review

Image
This morning the alarm went off at 5:20 a.m.for the Lost Dutchman race. After getting dressed, Hello running skirt, I love you and your three pockets Also wore the Aspaeris short underneath- magical  we headed out the door by 5:50 and drove about 30 minutes (while downing a peanut butter cliff bar) to get to the race start at Prospector Park. Parking was already full in the parking lot so we parked on the road. Glad we didn't get there any later or it would have been quite a hike to the start. I left A in the car to stay warm since her 10k started later than my race and after hitting the bathroom headed to the start line. I didn't carry my camera this time since my goal was to push the whole race and when I take pictures I tend to get distracted (ooo look a butterfly). So this is just mostly words. Lots and lots of words. There was plenty of porto-potties and real bathrooms as well since we were in a park. The race start had pacing areas by mile time. I started in th...
