For new readers or those unfamiliar with what has been going on off the running front check out this post. There is a high level of annoyance and stress going on in this household. I think it is mostly from me. I don’t know. D does better with the cool and calm when it comes to the bureaucracy of health care. I lie more in the realm of irate and irrational. If you would, please picture the most annoyed you have ever felt or would feel. For men (from what I have been told) I imagine this would be like a tiny hammer knocking non-stop into your balls without end. For women maybe more of that feeling when there is a full on toddler melt down going on at the grocery store, your own child, or someone else’s. No make it at Target. When you are just there to enjoy the day and spend your money on frivolous items and boom toddler, full on full body meltdown in your favorite isle. And then again ahead of you at check-out.  That level of annoyance is what has been going on with me when I ...

....the failure continues and panic sets in

Okay so that might be a bit harsh. But I did fail to get my butt to Pilates this morning. But in defense of my laziness I had to be at the hospital for lab work at 8 a.m. this morning (physicals are fun...). Then I was faced with a very tricky choice. Starbucks and baby drumstick (and just to clear up any confusion, drumstick is his nickname because he was supposed to be due on Thanksgiving, he has a nice normal name but he will always be lil' drumstick to me) holding or the gym. Well you can see what won. I will totally trade working out for cuddling with this little guy any time. It is now late afternoon and no working out has been done. Eh. I know if I don't get it done in the morning it is most likely not going to happen unless someone else is expecting me to workout with them.  I like to think I am resting up for the 5k on Saturday. Yes resting. I realized this morning that the marathon is March 1st. I knew it was March 1st but today I realized it is MARCH 1ST o...

Training Week: Fail

Image
This week was a total bust in the training department. No 8x400 repeats, no 45 minute tempo run, no Saturday pancake run with people much faster than me to keep me motivated to run an unnatural speed at 6a.m., no body pump- nada. The only thing I managed to do was Pilates on Monday and my C25K runs (followed by a decent amount of hacking) for a total of five miles this week. All because Monday night I came down with a raging cold. Total bummer and I feel like since we moved here I have been sick/ hurt ALL THE TIME. I have thrown out my back twice, had like a million colds (okay three). What the heck. So like any normal person I ordered this: By the power of mega sized Kirkland brand vitamins I swear I will never be sick again. So I may have over reacted and good lord must all vitamins come in size horse pill? Luckily D was kind enough to not really say anything about my massive vitamin purchase when it showed up at the door. For some reason getting a package full of vitamins is j...

Seven Bridges Marathon Failure

Image
Today I should be on my way to here to run the Seven Bridges marathon in Chattanooga Tennessee tomorrow. Instead I can not be more than a foot away from  as I have a super awesome cold. Luckily Yo Momma  (you are the best!) was able to find someone to use the entry I won so I don't feel like a total loser for taking someone's place at the race. Now I can sit around watching old seasons of Mobwives, doing shots of EmergenC without feeling like a total tool.  I am bummed I got sick and won't get to do this race but there are worse things in life I guess. The real bummer is that I swam and did yoga all week in an attempt to recover from Chicago quickly and I think it worked. My legs feel great. Oh well. Once I kick this cold I am going to expand my workout horizons by swimming more, doing a body pump (weight lifting) class, yoga and Pilates along with running. My next race goal is the Winter Series which includes 3 5ks and 1 10k over the next four months with...
