Just Plodding Along

One of the lovely runners I train is a yoga instructor and last week she invited me to attend one of her classes.....of hot yoga.....my initial reaction was followed by asking ridiculous questions like.... "What if I pass out and hit my head on the floor?" "Will it kill me?" "Has anyone ever died?" I am sure she immediately regretted that invitation. Hot yoga has always been intimidating to me. I am not good at normal temperature yoga. The idea of so much heat and yoga at one time was just too much. But after asking the spouse if he was game we decided to give it a go cause I am trying this thing where I try new things and try to stop being a curmudgeon. Change is hard. So Sunday we showed up with our yoga mats and towels and fear. We walked into the room and were hit by a wave of heat. I immediately started sweating buckets. I am pretty sure I hyper-extended my toe the other day doing yoga. Really? really....somebody should just hand me a helmet before I get out of bed in the morning. I don't care what these celebrities say Yoga is hazardous to your health. Excuse me while I go ice my toe.

Today was not a great day. My alarm went off an hour early to get in some yoga time. When it cried out with its annoying little beep I promptly snatched it off the nightstand, reprogrammed it for an hour later and went back to sleep. All without ever really waking up. Pretty magic. But when I woke up the second time I was mad that I had skipped yoga time and would therefore have to fit in a workout later (and to be honest if a workout doesn't happen before 10a.m. there is a 99.9% chance it ain't happenin) Wait I missed yoga-damn And then I went to school.
