Ragnar Trail: Angel Fire

Image
You know you are traveling with an awesome travel partner when by 10 a.m. you have had an amazing  breakfast, visited an old mining town and hit up a weirdly awesome for being in the middle of nowhere Vietnam memorial just because you can.  D&D Cafe- home of the 4 pound breakfast burrito.  After our morning explorations it was time to find the rest of our relay team and get the party started.  Vietnam Memorial: Worth the stop if you ever happen to be passing through Eagles Nest, NM The relay took place at the Angel Fire ski resort. The trail relays are nice in that you don't have to rent vans and drive from exchange to exchange. You just plant yourself in one place and leave for various trails from a central location. Now you do miss out on the fun of trying to park a passenger van in weird and small spaces and the amazing odor of six sweaty bodies and tons of sweaty clothes confined in a small space. But don't worry, a similar scent can be achie...

Just resting my eyes

So I tend to plan out my training a week in advance. One, this keeps me motivated. And two, I like planners and to fill in planners with everything I could possibly do so I can cross things off and feel like I have accomplished oh so much. It is kind of weird but it is my thing.  So this week I had all my workouts planned prior to Hood to Coast and in my mind I am amazing and would be up to all kinds of sweat fests. This was the week I would probably turn into a professional athlete. After taking Monday off I was ready to rock and roll. I even did two runs on Tuesday. Crazy. Well yesterday I slept almost all day. I woke up walked the dog and then feel asleep on the couch. I woke up, ate, did a few things (like schedule my exam for my personal training certification, woot woot) and then feel back asleep until it was time to go to my CPR certification class in the evening. I know. I know! Just be thankful that I am not required to be a functioning member of society and th...

31 and some wine

Tomorrow is my birthday! Why thank you! I have a hot date with a mani- pedi, froyo and some other stuff but I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you all of some very exciting news other than it's ALMOST MY BIRTHDAY! (Yep still get excited about them). Because this year is the year of the relay (Smoky Mountain, Wild West, Hood to Coast) I am embracing the opportunity to run through wine country because I feel this relay reflects what I am truly about... I will be joining the wonderful Cathryn from My Heart's Content and her relay crew for a little jaunt from San Fran to Napa for the Napa Valley Ragnar. Doesn't that just sound like the best! It is funny to think that about a year ago I was wanting to do a relay and now it would appear I do all of them. How lucky am I!!!! Now excuse me it is time to *by party hard I mean the big bucket of froyo and a housewives marathon. I live big.

Evidence and Relays

Look where I was this morning That's right! 6am body pump for the win. Unfortunately my arms would not stop shaking after (may have gone a little too heavy) and that coupled with being short on time before work- I have postponed my tempo run until tomorrow morning. Arms seem vital to trying to maintain an 8:35 pace for 35 minutes.  Speaking of running (when am I not speaking of running) some exciting news on the relay home front. My friend Katie in Alaska has a team going to Hood to Coast and asked if I would be interested in joining them for a little running fun. After I got done screaming while jumping up and down I calmly replied I might be into that. Just kidding. I am pretty sure I used all caps and a criminal amount of emoticons to say Please Yes Please can I tag along! Fingers crossed August 22 & 23rd I am hanging out with an awesome team making my way to the coast!!! Katie you rock!!!! An if it couldn't get any better Stacey, a friend from high school, a...
