The Lost Dutchman Half Race Review

Image
This morning the alarm went off at 5:20 a.m.for the Lost Dutchman race. After getting dressed, Hello running skirt, I love you and your three pockets Also wore the Aspaeris short underneath- magical  we headed out the door by 5:50 and drove about 30 minutes (while downing a peanut butter cliff bar) to get to the race start at Prospector Park. Parking was already full in the parking lot so we parked on the road. Glad we didn't get there any later or it would have been quite a hike to the start. I left A in the car to stay warm since her 10k started later than my race and after hitting the bathroom headed to the start line. I didn't carry my camera this time since my goal was to push the whole race and when I take pictures I tend to get distracted (ooo look a butterfly). So this is just mostly words. Lots and lots of words. There was plenty of porto-potties and real bathrooms as well since we were in a park. The race start had pacing areas by mile time. I started in th...

Sedona Half Marathon

Warning: This post is long and has more pictures than really necessary Saturday morning the alarm went off at 6a.m. and I had already been awake since 4a.m. Why oh why do I always do that? I was faced with outfit indecision again. I had brought four outfits to choose from. It was cold but once the sun came out would be warm. My leg was wonky and I had happened to order shorts ( Aspaeris shorts ) that are supposed to help with wonky but the world is not ready for my backside solely clad in a spandex like material sooo.... Long sleeve shirt and double shorts plus shin compression sleeves and knee brace for the win plus my awesome glitter bic band . Now I hadn't tried running in the compression shorts before so I was a little nervous about how that would go but I was more worried about my leg/IT band issue so thought I would chance it. D and I left the hotel at 6:30 since our GPS said it was a thirty minute drive to the race parking and they recommended getting there at l...

Temecula Valley Half Review

Image
On Saturday morning we got up bright and early at 6a.m. to get ready for the race start at 7:30a.m. for the Temecula Valley Half Since we were only 15 minutes away we could kind of sleep in. After glancing out the window and seeing it was raining my dream of a cute running skirt outfit was dashed. Long sleeves and capris it was.  The traditional thumbs up pre-race photo (C this visor is for you) A ready to go in the hot race shirt. Fun rain perfect  weather for a race After finding parking pretty quick we headed into the winery to get out of the rain. Monte de Oro Winery was the race start There were porto potties but also real bathrooms inside the winery open to runners. They opened up their barrel room for runners to stand in to get out of the rain. The race was delayed by 15 minutes due to the weather and the amount of slow pokes still backing up traffic. That kind of annoys me when people don't head out early enough to be there on time. You know th...
