Colorado Life

Otherwise known as the struggle is real when it comes to running. We got back to Colorado the end of July and after two months off and then another week to let a bruised heel (from backpacking) heal starting to run again at 7K feet seems like cruel and unusual punishment. And just when I started to get in shape I got Lasik. Good news....I can see!!! Without glasses!!! It is amazing!!!!!!! Bad news.....I had to take another week off to let my eyeballs heal. Which I am totally okay with cause I CAN SEE!!!!!!!!!!!! I have worn glasses and/or contacts since I was 16. Waking up and being able to see is the best thing ever!!!!!! EVER!!! I haven't been running but I have been making things out of the new Run Fast. Eat Slow cookbook. So if I am not blazing fast tomorrow when I go for a run (first one in 7 days what could go wrong) I am returning it. Not really, but only because this almond torte is delicious and going to be made again. And I don't want to brag but I tweete...

Fun Stuff

I am now working at the running store Up and Running  and part of my job is running a new Couch to 5k program and heading up the training program for the El Paso Half Marathon in February. So what I am saying is I am getting paid to run......DREAMS COME TRUE!  I am super excited to get new or returning runners excited about running and to train with some awesome people for the half. I am also excited that Up and Running does stuff like this There is an Up and Running team doing the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes  to end rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Please visit here  if you are interested in donating toward this great cause.

Vacation Frustration & Transition

Fun fact- when I blog on my phone while watching episodes of Say Yes to the Dress my grammar/ spelling/ everything is ten times worse that usual. So.... sorry about that last post. D is on 10 days of TDY. It is leave you get to move or settle into your new place. Since D is the luckiest man alive and married to me everything was all moved and set up before he ever went on leave so we have just been able to hang out. Well I still have to work. I was lucky enough to get to stay on part-time for awhile at my old job and work long distance. But man when one person is off and able to do whatever they want all day it just seems unreasonable to ask me to work four hours a day. It is just too much. Could you imagine if I actually had to put on work clothes to work instead of sitting in my kitchen wearing shorts and a t-shirt I would never make it. While I was sad to leave my job because the people I worked with were awesome it is exciting to figure out what I am going to do next...

A pain in the leg & 8p.m. bedtimes

Well my right leg is acting up again so it is getting 'RICE'd for the next few days. No more runs until the Oak Brook half on Monday. Which I am way excited about by the way.  Hopefully it will be all better. And if it is not I can run on it just fine so it doesn't matter but it would be more pleasant for everyone if it would just fix itself. Because everyone knows that you should always run on stuff when it hurts. No do not do that. Do as I say not as I do. Instead of hitting the bike trail for early morning runs I will be hitting my spin bike for the next two days instead. So that is a whole lot of not awesome. What is still a whole lot of awesome is my new job. But man is my brain tired. So many things to remember. I am gonna try real hard to catch up on all my favorite blogs tonight and stay out of bed until at least  ......8:00pm. But no promises.

My House Threw Up

Image
Things around here have been a little crazy. I have been offered and accepted a job in Illinois....which is in fact not in Arizona so that means moving cross country which equals full scale moving madness and a slight amount of panic. In the past two days we have packed up part of our house, held a yard sale, dropped stuffed off at goodwill and found stuff at the back of closets that we don't remember having. We might be a little bit excited for our new adventure, just a bit. Does anyone else notice how things must get super messy and out of control before they can get organized or is that just me being crazy? The house looks like it threw up or exploded or something but is slowly getting under control. Running stuff boxed up- Goodbye year supply of Nuun, see you in Illinois We haven't really figured out a place to live, or how exactly we are going to get all our stuff there or when exactly I am starting my new job. What I have figured out. FALL RACE SCHEDULE. You know ...
