Does this cadence make my butt look big?

Image
Whelp yesterday was Friday the most glorious day of the work week. I smuggled my magic massage the calf and everything that hurts stick into work and used it a few times throughout the day. Best idea ever. After 6 miles at a 10:11 pace (fast for me in this heat, only thing I could figure is that I was so happy to not be running hills I went faster) my calves needed a little TLC. After work I headed over to Fleet Feet for the running form workshop. It was put on by Newton shoes who had a rep there so we could try Newtons. The only down side was they didn't have any in size clown  W12 so I had to wear the men's version. They fit okay but were a little wide. But at around $120 to $175 a pop it was nice to actually try running in these shoes in case I win the lotto and want to purchase some (disclaimer: these shoes are supposed to last up to 800 miles which is about twice as long as your normal running shoe so really they are a pretty good deal. I am physically unable to hand ...

Fun with Cactus on the Staycation

Image
This week is spring break....which means fun. Or at least more fun than usual. And since D has to work this week I must have fun for the both of us and also means a staycation for me. To kick off the staycation I went hiking with A this morning in Sabino Canyon which is one of my favorite places. Paved trail so pokey and poisonous things can't touch me, just the right amount of nature Mile 0 of the 7.4 mile round trip Sign cracks me up every time, not sure why because that stick bicycler is in serious trouble After our three hour stroll I forced A to Fleet Feet with me so I could buy new arch support inserts (stupid flat left foot, you make my life difficult) and KT tape to try to tape my arch feel better. I almost caved and bought orthopedic flip flops. Yep that is right, orthopedic, so that is happening now. They were pretty cute so that made it better but also pretty expensive to I decided to think about it for awhile. After flip flop inde...

Goals for the Tucson Half Marathon

Image
For your viewing pleasure, race photo from Fiesta Bowl 1/2 And bam time for another half marathon again. It seemed like a good idea a few months ago when I signed up for back to back weekends of half marathons, now maybe not so much. I am still a little sore from the Fiesta Bowl 1/2 and have not run since. Just biked and done stretching. The real reason for not running is that it is cold and I am a big baby, plus the end of the semester makes me feel like I want to stab someone. No one in particular, just a general feeling of stabbyness. So that is fun for everyone else. But this is my redemption half marathon I guess since I was training for this marathon last year when I hurt myself and had to hobble around on crutches in a cast for awhile (that also made me feel like I wanted to stab someone). And I got a sweet deal with half off the race after emailing the race director about my sad, sad plight last year. Goals (again I feel the layer method takes some pressure off): L...

Xmas came early

Image
My right foot has been hurting for awhile so yesterday I decided to do something about it before I ended up with a serious injury and this blog turned into the sad place where I complain about not running. I got different shoes (Fleet Feet shout out) (empty wallet shout out). Even though I have been wearing Saucony shoes forever now, when they switched from Pro Guide 3 to Pro Guide 4 something happened. My foot changed or the shoe changed but my right foot and shoe just kept fighting so they decided to split up and only see each other on four mile or under runs. For long runs my feet are now dating...... Look at those sexy ankles whooo And this relationship is looking pretty good. I haven't been running yet, decided to bike this morning and let my right foot/ankle recover a little but Wednesday is the first date so we will see how it goes. Fingers crossed it is magical. Plus these Nike shoes are super hot. I mean just look at the flashy blue color. Plus they make my...

Ode to Fleet Feet Tucson

Image
Fleet Feet Tucson is awesome. Every time I go in there the staff are super helpful and friendly.I went in the other day to stock up on new superfeet and energy chews and had a great time. Maybe it was the intoxicating new shoe smell, the super friendly staff or the fun running apparel and accessories to look through but I was one happy camper when I left even after parting ways with my hard earned cash. I pass two other running stores and go way out of my way to shop here because of this. Two thumbs way, way up Fleet Feet . Whether you need new shoes or Gu I would recommend stopping in. They aren't paying me to say this (though I am always open to donations/ endorsements) I am just a satisfied customer. Only two more days until: Did I mention it is uphill;) (no today doesn't count cause it is almost over!) Whoooo Ready for the taper week to be over (my foot is feeling better). Getting bored without my runs to look forward too. Funny how when I feel like I have to...
