Well now I've done it

On Sunday I had the most glorious run. Four miles in 38 minutes. Pretty fast but felt easy. Warm weather. Perfect weather really. Warm enough to wear shorts. It was the first run outside all week after my mile a day on the treadmill. I got a little excited and I think I injured my hip again. Crap. But you know what....

Because it was an awesome run.
But I have made the decision to stop streaking. No running for me this week. Walking, biking, weightlifting, yogaing (word?), couch sitting, but no running. At first I was like ah man, run streak over I am a failure but then I got over it.

My original plan for December was to chill out with all the running crazy. So #RWrunstreak I would apologize but
because really this streak just reminded me that one, I can not run every single day. Every time I do something goes wrong. And two, rest is key. Running is hard, hard on joints, bones, and my wallet. So taking a break is a good thing.

Plan for the week: Lift, bike, yoga, walk, repeat.
Workout today: Power yoga for 30 minutes, power walk with extremely fit coworker for 45 minutes where I swear we walked faster than I run.

  1. I tried a streak like once and I made it 4 days before I remembered that my body just hates me when I run that much :) I do much better on 3x/week!

    1. Yes I am thinking 5 days a week is my max. I just must have a day of doing nothing or my body freaks out.

  2. Power walking is hard! Did you see that in the Olympics? I swear too that it is harder than running.

    1. And the way they rotate their hips. How is that even possible?

  3. Enjoy your cross-training:) I am the same way. Daily running does not agree with my body. Hope you get the rest you need:)

    1. I am liking strength training more than I normally do so maybe something good will come out of this like more useful arms:).

  4. I doubt I have ever had a run streak longer than a week. I am truly fascinated by those that can consistently run every day.

    1. I am not sure how they do it. They must have perfect biomechanics or something.

  5. I was going to streak in December, but after 2 days and kind of reinjuring my ankle in a race this past weekend, I decided to call it quits. My body just can't handle running every day either.

    1. I don't know how others do it, but sometimes I just need to lay on the couch. Plus I hear cross training is good too.

  6. I'm glad you regret nothing because you have nothing to regret. Streaking is hard, really hard. And it is hard on the body. I'm pretty sure my streaking over the summer lead to my tendon injury! You're still a rock star in my book!

    1. Streaking is hard- the kind with running shoes and clothes, haven't tried the other kind.

    2. Uh...I'm pretty sure people don't want to see me running let alone seeing me running naked! LOL

  7. Glad you're taking a break from streaking. (Am I the only one that always pictures Will Ferrell in "Old School" when the word "streaking" is mentioned?) I've never tried streaking, but I know my body likes rest ... maybe too much.
