I'm Back

After years and years of no internet at our new house in Illinois we are back online. Man I am addicted to easy access to all things web based. Thank goodness D had the foresight to buy me a smartphone for our anniversary so I could twitter stalk and read blogs in tiny version on my phone otherwise I may have gone crazy.

We made it to Illinois in five days after stopping for a day at my parents’ house. So Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois all look the same. I became increasingly cranky on the trip as did the dogs who I am pretty sure by the third day of driving were giving us the mental bird every time they looked at us for cramming them in a tiny space for multiple days. Everyone was happy to arrive at our destination which turns out to be beautiful, tree lined and super close to a huge park and running trail that extends to and through Wisconsin and through most of Illinois. I ran to Wisconsin on Thursday during my 8 mile run. Now that is just fun to say, ‘I ran to Wisconsin’ (We live right on the border).
Look D your favorite 80's shirt: wha ha ha

So sad they have to touch each other

Speaking of running and twitter stalking, one group I have been stalking hard core is the Nuun Hood to Coast relay team. Man I want to do that bad. Nuun please, please, please with a cherry on top host more female bloggers next year. I promise I will submit an application and I will try suuuuuuppppppeeerrr hard for it to be awesome so you will pick me. Did I say please, PLEASE. It looks like so much fun.

I have been here for a week and have signed up for two races the Oak Brook Half Marathon and a 10k that starts and finishes just down the street from our house. I also plan on signing up for the Crystal Lake ½ pronto. I am super psyched to do 1/2s again. I think the summer hiatus was a good thing. I don’t know if I really got any faster and haven’t really run all that much longer than usual this summer, but I have run more so that is something. Maybe a PR in my future, maybe not but for sure there are more medals whoop.
One of the first things hung in our new digs- priorities people

Random side note (this whole blog has been random, pretty much verbal diarrhea after such a forced long hiatus. If you are still reading- bless you). When you sleep on an air mattress for a month and then your new king size memory foam bed shows up all you want to do is nap. Everyday I have napped for like 3 hours and still gone to bed at 9p.m. (D is looking into senior citizen homes for me since I get up at 5a.m. go to bed at 9p.m. and worry about my fiber intake) Today I had to cut myself off. Am thinking my new employer might frown upon my siestas. I have been awake for 8 straight hours, life is hard.

Goals for the next few months include- running lots of 1/2s (have 7 or 8 on the radar before December), keep trying to up my long runs with a goal of eventually hitting a 20 mile run (this becomes increasingly difficult with racing and the butt ton (a metric measurement) of snow I am sure will fall in this area but that is okay because….), my final goal is to obtain a treadmill.
Treadmill is a good thing to burn off all these: Chicago style dogs= delicious
Long run tomorrow: perhaps I will jog into Wisconsin and back or head to Chicago (or 4 miles in that direction), yay for new running adventures

  1. Ha! Sounds like you're having a great time, napping and running to Wisconsin. I have a great friend in WI, say hi to him for me. ;-) Glad you all arrived safe and sound!

  2. Yay! You're back! I love your medal display. I need to get something like that. I'm glad you're back to running and enjoying the new scenery (and states).
