Bean's Goals

New Goals!
1) Run a 5k in under 25 minutes
2) Run a 10k in under 55 minutes
3) Run a half marathon in under 1:55
4) Run a marathon in under 4:30  Done & Done

Why the time goals? Because I think I can. I don't know if I can but I think I can. I think I keep it light and easy and relatively pain free and I could push harder and run faster. Now I am not saying I want to do that all the time. But every once in awhile I need to step up the game.

1) Finish 30 half marathons before turning 30. Done & Done
Why this? I have no idea. It just came to me. And having goals are good. For some reason I feel we are expected to freak out about turning 30 years old. Maybe if I am too busy running I won't feel the need to freak out. Plus 30 halves = 30 medals. And I like medals.

2) Run a half marathon in under two hours. Done & Done
I am oh so very close. Seven, very long, minutes away. Again it is not like running a half under two hours will assure me a first place finish or anything but it gives me a reason to think about doing tempo and speed workouts. Maybe one day I will do more than think about them and under two will become a reality.

3) Run a marathon for my 30th birthday. Done & Done
I have run one marathon. And I hated it, except for the brief feeling of relief at the very end when I no longer had to keep moving forward. I can do better than that. Last time I didn't train very well and I was mentally weak. I am stronger now. I can run 26.2 miles without dissolving into a ball of whine. I will do it.

4) Run a marathon in under 5 hours. Done & Done
I don't need to qualify for Boston. I just want to do better than last time. I also want to be strong enough that if I take my average half marathon time and multiply by two that equals my marathon finish time (currently would be around 4:30).

5) Run 1000 miles this year. As of April have run 239.7 better pick up the pace. Done & Done
