Random Saturday Stuff

Image
Since I haven't been running as much as usual I have had time to do other things. Besides watching the first five seasons of Say Yes to the Dress (why is that show so addicting- it is basically a show about shopping and yet I love it) I have been reunited with my other hobby- photography. Photos from the morning walk with Max. \ Get ready to see more photos on the blog- if you aren't into it, tough my blog. It has been really fun to get back into and I think it is good for me to have something to do besides work and run......and watch entire seasons of shows about dress buying. Of course once I start hitting the high mileage again other things tend to fall to the wayside. Since I am basically spending this Saturday waiting around to run the marathon on Sunday I thought shopping seemed like the perfect time killer. I got myself a sweet new tripod. It's a photo... of a camera- just blew my mind I also finally made my way to the Outlet Mall, can't be...

Hello 2012

Image
Well I have finally caught up with the rest of the world and joined twitter. Not sure how it is going to go.  Can 140 characters contain all this greatness? We shall see. But I am interested in keeping up with my favorite runners and running brands so decided I needed to jump on the bandwagon and stop resisting progress. On the right hand side of my blog you will find a handy dandy button (that only took me like 30 minutes to figure out. It would have taken 60 seconds if D had been around, my computer co-dependence is getting out of hand) to follow me and all my wit in another format. I pinky swear to follow you if you follow me. Not so shocking news: Yesterday was Thursday, Muscle Pump day. Guess who was NOT in class, this blogger. I am with Jina , Thursdays just do not go well. Oh well at least I did some speed work. Instead of sweating it out in Muscle Pump I sweated it out at Kohl's I could not use this coupon.  I went with the idea that I was going to expand my ...

Lost of eating out and a gelato stop that resulted in a coupon for free gelato next time. Yippee Visit to the Titan Missile Museum  Fun not pictured: Trip up Mount Lemmon Grilling out Graduation celebration dinner A trip to Sam's club to stock up on bulk items like I have wanted these forever and now I have them. Must label everything. A great couple of days! Don't forget to try for some Nuun .

Mount Lemmon Eve Round Two

Yesterday I headed over to Fleet Feet to pick up my race packet for the Mount Lemmon Half . It was a quick pick-up, there were no expo booths unless you count the entire running store as an expo. Which I did. Shirt: I think an improvement over last year They also gave us water bottles. My guess is that they were left over from last year since it is last year's logo.  My powers of deduction are incredible I know.  I had a $25 voucher to use at Fleet Feet (if you sign-up to be a member for every gazillion you spend (all right $200) you get $25 to use in the store. Getting to the $200 limit is pretty easy if you buy running shoes there and geriatric flip flops . My goal was to buy some Nuun. I have been wanting to try it. I also want to be on their hood to coast relay team next year if they once again sponsor female bloggers. Some of my favorite bloggers are on their teams this year and I think it would be so much fun. I figure the first step is to invest ...

Run today: 6 miles in 1:02 (felt sore and tired, and farted around until it was hot outside, will I never learn. I always feel fine the day after speed work/ races, it is the day after the day after that the hurt shows up.) So we are on day one thousand gazillion of trying to eat more healthy and incorporate more fruits and veggies and less fruit flavored candy into my diet. This was induced by the documentary Hungry for Change scaring the bejezus out of me. No this smile is not masking the pain of withdrawal from Hot Tamales and Juju fish mmm salad and cottage cheese with pineapple, taste like cake (side note: what is happening with my hair?)  Actually it has been going pretty good. We have even got adventurous and tried new things. Things I have learned the last few days: 1) Kale is delicious. I used this recipe and it turned out awesome. 2) Roasted brussel sprouts are the bomb. Just don't over salt, then they taste like death (whoops) 3) Fresh pineapple is...

Love, hearts and other stuff

Tonight D and I went out on a date for Valentine's day. We went on Monday since D has class till late on Tuesdays and we can't go out past 7p.m. because I am really 90 years old and like to be in bed, lights out by 9 p.m. or I might turn into a pumpkin (since I am never awake past 9 I have not tested the pumpkin theory, better safe than sorry). For our date he took me shopping at the mall, to REI and then to the Cheesecake Factory. And since he is the best husband in the world he let me spend our joint REI xmas gift card on running fuel. Um can you say BEST. HUSBAND. EVER. minty freshness Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla, random orange flavor, vanilla, vanilla, vanilla Look at all that delicious vanilla gu (the best flavor). And chocolate mint cliff bars (the only flavor worth eating). I also obtained this lovely piece of cheesecake to go (peanut butter cup chocolate magic). Glitter shoes be damned- you are going in my face cheesecake D gave me the cutest gift. ...

My right foot has been hurting for awhile so yesterday I decided to do something about it before I ended up with a serious injury and this blog turned into the sad place where I complain about not running. I got different shoes (Fleet Feet shout out) (empty wallet shout out). Even though I have been wearing Saucony shoes forever now, when they switched from Pro Guide 3 to Pro Guide 4 something happened. My foot changed or the shoe changed but my right foot and shoe just kept fighting so they decided to split up and only see each other on four mile or under runs. For long runs my feet are now dating...... Look at those sexy ankles whooo And this relationship is looking pretty good. I haven't been running yet, decided to bike this morning and let my right foot/ankle recover a little but Wednesday is the first date so we will see how it goes. Fingers crossed it is magical. Plus these Nike shoes are super hot. I mean just look at the flashy blue color. Plus they make my...

Total Wine took my paycheck

Yesterday after work/school D & I headed to the mall. I saw that running clothes were on sale at JCPenny and decided I needed to obtain some. I got a pair of running shorts, running capris and a cute top all on sale. Since only one pair of my running pants fit anymore it was time to invest in some smaller sizes. All pieces were under twenty $. Score. I haven't run in shorts in awhile (too much riding up, chub rub going on) but now that my legs are somewhat leaner hopefully these will work. The pants have a red stripe down the side which D said will make me look faster (it may take more than a red stripe for that to happen). I really wanted all black but since I never match anyways and couldn't find all black, red racing stripe it is. The top is more for wearing while cross training unless layered with a sports bra. That built in bra ain't doin nothin and I would hate to harm anyone. I am a sucker for a sale Holidays just taste better...and they were on sale Af...
