Oak Brook Half Race Review

Image
Monday, Labor Day, the day America celebrates its labor force by letting government laborers have the day off I decided to labor through 13.1 miles. And it was an awesome, sweaty fun fest. D and I rolled out of bed at 4a.m. to make the hour and twenty minute drive to the Oak Brook area where the race was held. And we hit absolutely no traffic, so there is an up side to being on the road at 4:30 a.m. We got to the start line in plenty of time for parking, me to pick up my number and to weigh in at the Clydesdale table.  Now me and my lovely lady lumps have had mixed feeling about this category but I have decided to embrace it. I can compete with others who have junk in the trunk but I can not compete with the lean, mean fighting machines so I might as well join in the fun when the category exists. I have done many a 1/2 marathon at this point (have even placed in my age group in non-Clydesdale- super small race) and the Clydesdale categories are all differen...

Oak Brook 1/2 Goals

Image
It is time to kick of the fall racing season I am so excited. Almost as excited as when I found pajama jeans at Walmart yesterday.   Almost. Did you know those suckers were on sale for $40. ON SALE. Why would you not just buy a pair of real jeans for that price? Or 8 pairs of Walmart jeans or something. I am so confused about this. I also got my hair cut. I know I was all 'I am a awesome person and gonna grow my hair out for locks of love, society can thank me later'. I could not stand my hair any longer so if anything I am an awful person because I have no patience or self control. I am also not a huge fan of how the guy cut my hair but.....wait, wait what was I blogging about.....oh right 1/2 marathon goals. SO. Oak Brook half tomorrow. Before I ended up spending the last few days doing this I had thought maybe I could PR. I have been running hard this summer, picking up a little speed and did knock out a 14 mile run last weekend although that was super slow but stil...

A pain in the leg & 8p.m. bedtimes

Well my right leg is acting up again so it is getting 'RICE'd for the next few days. No more runs until the Oak Brook half on Monday. Which I am way excited about by the way.  Hopefully it will be all better. And if it is not I can run on it just fine so it doesn't matter but it would be more pleasant for everyone if it would just fix itself. Because everyone knows that you should always run on stuff when it hurts. No do not do that. Do as I say not as I do. Instead of hitting the bike trail for early morning runs I will be hitting my spin bike for the next two days instead. So that is a whole lot of not awesome. What is still a whole lot of awesome is my new job. But man is my brain tired. So many things to remember. I am gonna try real hard to catch up on all my favorite blogs tonight and stay out of bed until at least  ......8:00pm. But no promises.
